About the Therapist:

Stacey Chernin M.A., Psy. D., LMFT, CFT, is a specialized  marriage, couples and family therapist and maintains a busy private practice, Counseling Services Direct, in Long Island, New York. She holds a mental health practitioner license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). In addition, a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP),  and an (OASAS) approved DWI screening assessment and treatment provider. A graduate of The New School for Social Research specializing in psychology, she is currently a doctoral student and serving as private practitioner working with individuals, couples, and families.

She is a  mental health practitioner with offices in Long Island and the therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

The  passion behind the practice is to help people reconnect with themselves and improve relationships in a way that naturally leads to the healthiest solutions and outcomes.  Many clients come to the practice who feel that their marriage or personal life has hit a wall, leaving them frustrated and often hopeless.  With the combination of therapeutic approaches, many clients are able to gain a new perspective that leads to deeper insight and transformation than they would have thought possible.

Education and Certification: 

A Master of Arts degree in psychology from The New School for Social Research (MA). Presently, Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.). In addition, a Certified Family Therapis (CFT) and a Human Services Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP).

Membership and Experience:

A clinical member of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a Member National Association For The Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP). My Professional experience includes practice at Jamaica Hospital-The Advanced Center for Psychotherapy, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York Hospital, Columbia New York Presbyterian Hospital-Mood Disorders , and Behavioral Medicine.
